I heard that Nevada has a shed antler hunting season now.
Closed Jan 1 - April 15.

Good to hear.

Along with Colorado's closures, it seems that this is the new trend.
Wyoming of course, way ahead of the game.

I'll probably catch he'll for this, but has there been an mortality increase of deer because of shed hunting?

LAST EDITED ON Jan-07-15 AT 04:45PM (MST)[p]I just opened this to read...this is an e-mail response I received from an inquiry to NDOW about "Shed Antler Season" status...apparently not official yet:

Hi Pete,
I believe I remember you from your time at the State Park at Eagle Valley. Anyway, there is no current season or restrictions that are different from years past. The Commission is hearing the issue and is trying to come to some sort of decision on the issue. There are too many different variables on the table to consider to make a guess on what will and will not be required at some time in the future as far as seasons, license requirements, etc. Keep checking our website to keep tabs on the issue as I'm sure it will be big news should something be decided. In any event, should a decision be made, it is doubtful it would be initiated anytime before this "shed-hunting" season. Hope that answers your question. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any further questions or clarifications.

Thank you,
