LAST EDITED ON Apr-02-15 AT 08:08PM (MST)[p]This old dude must have between the king of the mountain (Wasatch Front) a few years ago. His antlers have "regressed" according to the game warden, and his teeth are really worn down. Anyway, kind of a cool find. He didn't make it through the winter, but I'm guessing he lived a good deer life.

By the way, for you all that have been doing this for a long while, what would you do with a head like this? I'm not sure it carries the sentimental value for me to keep it on the wall, so I guess I could hack the antlers off to sell them to a broker....or try and sell it whole to someone with a cabin? I don't know. What would you do?

It's not any less sentimental than if you had tagged it during a hunting season. In fact, dead heads are harder to come by because they are significantly smaller than a live animal, and they don't move.

I'd 'cook' the head and clean it off real nice. Do it a couple times, the second time with some bleach in it. Then put the skull on your garage wall. Your kid will always remember that head as his "first"...
