I have not studied the new regs. to closley but from what I can see the additional hunts that have been added in AZ are not in the best interest of deer managment. Of course I'm no pro, it's just my opinion. Any other thoughts???

Through the eyes of opportunity, the firearms hunts start in mid October are pretty much nonstop till the end of December. The longest break is between Dec 4 & 12. That should make for pressured & wary deer, perhaps more nocturnal, and reduce hunter success. That decrease enables more permits to be offered and the addditional regular season. Don't forget to reduce the December permits by 3/4 in order to give twice as many early permits. Through the eyes of o$$ortunity.

Through my eyes, it's a pile of El Toro poo-poo.
Herds have been depressed by many years of drought. Wait...newsflash...it rained normal amounts last year, let's offer more permits for the new spikes.
Just the beginning of the rapid descent in the quality game management AZ was known for.

I couldnt agree more. Just when we get a good winter and might have a decent fawn crop, they put out a bunch more permits. IMHO, they are managing money, not deer.

It has become all about the money and hunter opportunity, they could really give a crap about the wildlife and they are slowly destroying this state. I can't wait till my kids are out of school and we can move.AZGFD will be it's own down fall

The AZGF$D department has been managing for money, not animals for years.

Its nothing new to us out here in Az. I get a kick out of how they justify increasing the permits. I remember in August I was chasing javelina/mule deer and ran into a game warden. I was very excited to hear him say that they were bringing forward "more December tags".... my heart sank when I heard they were introducing a hunt that ENDS December 4th and calling that a "December hunt"

To think, I used to want to work for AZGF$D, now I despise them.

Yep and just when the rains start to come, they come and take away 90 days of lion season ... HMM... sure, the primal predator gets a vacation for 90 days in many units. Thanks to the 'other side'. Lions are up in terms of population (in my opinion) and are always chasing the desert ghost in search of a meal, coupled with the new scheme of our game and fish department, it's still going to be a long recovery for the coues does and bucks of Arizona.

Some units are going to bang out nearly 2000 hunters in 45 days, so yes, they have blistered the december coues hunt and turned things away from QUALITY and cleary onto QUANTITY. Telling us the late Nov early Dec hunt is the "dec hunt" ?

Looks like no more hunting on Christmas or New Years eve...That was a blast ...
