BDH asked me to post some pics of a big buck he photographed in California. I'll let Brad fill in the details. Nice job!

Thanks for posting those pictures for me Ron. These picture were taken a few years ago in a Calif. "B" zone. The bottom two pictures were taken on opening day of bow season. The buck was bedded in a patch of manzanita and allowed me to get within 15 feet. I almost walked right by this buck, thinking its antlers were just branches of the bush. Only when I made eye contact after taking a couple of pictures, did it get up a walk away. It would have let me walk right by. I had draw a rifle D2B tag that year and didn't bow hunt. After getting that close to a nice Blacktail, I have seen learned to shoot a bow. The top photo was taken the next day. The buck was about 50 yards from where I saw it the first day. The bases on this buck were bigger than coke cans.

BDH.. That is one nice Blacktail. They sure will hold like a damm pheasant though don't they? One of there characteristics. Pretty cool being that close to a nice one like that and great pictures. The shrub kind of looks like the other oak, you know the poison oak. Nice pics man!

Happy trails

Awesome buck BDH. How wide do you think he is? Looks to me that he should push atleast 26 wide. That would make one hell of a bow killed mount.

Treekiller, how has the search for sheds going? I found a few old ones, but the grass got to high real fast down here.
