The fear of man needs reinstated!

Just a sign of the times now and days! But last Monday or Tuesday and guy at work came in later in the morning almost 11am!
It turn out that around 4am or so his two dogs were barking alot
so he yells at them to stop barking and they kept at it to a lesser level.
5:30/6am the two dog are still barking alot so "Fred" goes out to see whats up! walks out side to the dogs that are under a tree to rear of back yard and looks into the tree (thinking that some person was in that tree)only to see an "Mountian Lion" stairing at him about 8 feet away. Hello 911 I have an problem he said.
It was a quite a seen he said(bedroom made into a command post,lots of cops,f&g! Fish and Game made the call and wanted it dead(Belmont police last month they shot and killed one!I think maybe Sunnyvale or what ever)!
San Jose swat hit it with an slug (shot twice). It was female, 80/90lbs and was in a mood!! Fred just lives in the urbs and their are many houses between his home and the hills(which is where the cat belongs!)not the sticks! From a media stand point this was very very low hype! and he may e mail me the photos his daughter took so I can post them! But last month a saw an cat on the east side in hills(Ohlone trail which is fine they always been their!) and yeasterday on the "radio"(KCBS 740 am) I heard that an Elemetry school in Oakland,CA was locked down and parents called to come and pick up the kids instead of choosing to let them walk home because of an sighting of an Mountian Lion on school yard by two teachers!
I feel this is outta hand when every month I hear about this stuff! "THE FEAR OF MAN" needs to be reinstated PERIOD!!
Every time I see one (LION) when hunting I will kill it,shoot at it!Yell at it! And not say any thing about it.

You're right Jack. There is getting to be more stories similar to yours all the time. With no fear of man they will continue to more bold as time goes on.

A few years ago, while hunting blacktails, I had one actually stalk me! He had absolutley no fear of me whatsoever! We watched each other for about 5 minutes and then he started to slink towards me. You talk about a weird feeling. It put the fear into me right now! It was like walking down the street and having a big German Shepard comming towards you and you just KNOW something bad is going to happen.
I had always heard that the best way to scare them off was to make a loud noise and throw something at them. That's sort of what I did, if you get my drift, and it worked great!

If I had been defensless, there is no doubt in my mind he would have taken me.

was it mare basin(antony peak)B1 zone? It happend to me there bout four years ago and I never knew the cat was w/in 25 yrds, a hunting bud had it in his crosshairs the whole time!

LAST EDITED ON May-02-05 AT 04:07PM (MST)[p]It was actually B2 zone, but close enough. When I turned to look around to see if other hunters were around, that's when the cat made his move! He was about 80 yards from me initially, but closed to about 40 yards when he got the BIG SURPRISE.

Man that's weird.....right in San Jose. Can you imagine the number of B&C lions there must be running around all over California? If they ever open the season some big toms will be taken, for sure!

I wish you guys could see the rest of the pictures they are cool for sure for San Jose! She was not huge but big enough to ruin your day!
The guy I work with who found the cat in his backyard is older and though at first it was a person in the tree he said he was 15 feet from it! But it was still shot dead!! good kitty!
