Broken set of horns

Moving is never fun but the other day I screwed a nice 4x3 up on the wall in my new house over my back door. Not a big buck but a good one any way. I came home Friday to find them on the floor broken in two looks like the screw didnt hold. But what it did do is give me a good set to rattle with. Any budy els out there try this with blackies? I have seen small bucks go at it a little as early as the first part of Sept. Just feeling each other out.
I know the whitetail guys use this and I have heard them say it wil work long befor the rut witch in Northern Cali that is when we get to hunt.


yeah I know I will use a longer screw next time ha ha

I've had limited success rattling antlers. The bucks (and does) seem to be curious more than answering a challenge. Maybe I don't have the sequence down to a science. I have as good as luck by just using a yote call. The bucks hear the dying rabbit and they become curious.

Go down to 26" 4 x 3 from California post by CRODOG. He said it was sucessful for him.
