Is anyone willing to share info about this hunt? It is a huge area, I realize, but I am wondering about the country. Looks like there are some areas close to timberline?? Most of it thick country?

How about hunt pressure? If you get back in 2-4 miles, are you dealing with a lot of other hunters? Obviously not asking for any spots at all, just any general information you are willing to share.

Thanks

Its A Big Area. I wish they would get rid of this hunt. Nothing like bowhunting and having 3500 yahoos with rifles shooting anything with a horn. Sorry for the rant but unfortunately they will never get rid of it because of the money. The hunt is in the oregon cascades. There are Clear Cuts, Meadows, Timber. Alot of High Country. Hope This helps.

Thanks for the response. Do you find that it is crowded with hunters? I can handle not seeing too many deer if I don't see too many hunters. I am willing to get in a ways and even backpack, but probably not more than 2-3 miles backpack in.

If you are willing to get off the beatin path its not too crowded. Alot of road hunters. I saw alot of bucks while bowhunting for elk about 1-2 miles off the roads.

Definitely not a hunt I would waste 100 series preference points on. If you want/need a blacktail, come the beginning of November.

If you hunt in a wilderness area and backpack in 2 or 3 miles, you shouldn't see many other hunters if any. I've hunted this hunt in the 3 Sisters Wilderness a few times. Not a whole lot of deer but not many hunters either. I suggest picking up a cougar tag also. As that's one of the reasons for the lower deer numbers.
