Just wondering what thoughts were as to the best Sitka outfitter that is out there. Would love to get up to Alaska in the not too far distant future and thought I would start my research here.

I don't know who is good, but I can tell you that you are wasting your money and time if you go with Kodiak Charters.

I just went with Alaska Coastal Marine and recommend them highly. Unguided as they are only transporters but what a great trip.

Check out Homer Ocean Charters, hunted with them over Thanksgiving week, and had a blast, 6 of us took 14 bucks, and could have all taken 3 bucks each. 4 of the bucks scored 95" or better with the best close to 100" and the rest in the 80"-90" range. if you would like to see pics. I can send them, or some of them, or we can talk on the phone. we are going back in 09.

People put the word out. That kodiak charters is a waste of time... They don't care about you, they want you to waste a week with them and take your money, they have nothing better to do after salmon season!!!!!! they tell you its to windy and then you see (from there porch) the other charter in town go by in there boat. And the owner randy is somthing else....@$#% &^%$.

I went with them 5 or 6 years ago and shot a 5x5 just luck . They dont show you here to go, they just ask you where you what to go and drop you off. I read in SCI mag they got in trouble will the law and SCI cu them off.

I went with Alaska Coastal Marine in 2006, it was a good time.

6 of us took 7 with bows, 1 with handgun and 3 with rifle.

Weather was horrible, we lost a couple days to weather and didn't get to hunt where we wanted a couple times because of big surf.

But the company makes the trip, go with good people and it'll be fun no matter what.

Are you looking for an outfitter or just a transporter? FYI, only transporters have been mentioned so far...no outfitters.
