posting this to see what everyone has there triggers set at mine are 1 3/4 to 2 lbs just curious if others like lighter or like heavier triggers and why

2.5 here as well. But I'm sure to tell anyone I hand my rifle to that the trigger is light!

A very subjective subject. the creep setting has to be factored in too.

I set my hunting rifles at 1.5 - 2 lbs. my long range rifle and varmint rifles are less than 1 lb.

Stay thirsty my friends

Great point 440. IMO a crisp trigger is the most important factor to me. Also the overtravel must be set properly. I like my triggers around 2lbs.

2.5 to 3 lbs is about right for me on a big game gun but I like much lighter on a target/varmint rig. Some single-sets can be measured in ounces!

As stated by others, creep and over-travel must be at a minimum regardless of weight, for me.

Me thinks the trigger is the heart of the rifle.

Good question BTW.

I have one rifle 30 378 sako M995 has a factory trigger that wont let me lighten it up less than 2.25 LBS been thinking of getting a jewl or timney its hard to find a trigger for that model though or I am not looking in the right places. I like the lighter trigger set for big game and target. I don't shoot varmint's or have a varmint rifle

The rifles i hunt with are all between 2 1/2 to 3 pounds. I have no need or desire to go lighter.

I have all rifles set at 3 lbs or just a few ounces over except for my shotguns which I like at 5 lbs or so. I hunt hard and bump my guns occasionally so I like the trigger to be set higher. Personnaly 3 lbs or so feels fine, but mine are tuned and I shoot/practice throughout the year.

I think anything less then 2.5 pounds on a hunting rifle is getting a little light . Some call 2.5 pounds a good cold weather trigger setting. With a good crisp trigger pull 2.5 is great.
