looking for any all pointers! ive heard get as high as you can. other than that we will be doing massive scouting this summer and such but would appreciate any and all PMs

I responded to your question in another thread. Did not know you drew it, so maybe I was too brutally honest. Don't mean to discourage you.

Plan to get in great shape in order to combat the mental toll when encounters don't work out and need to find another bull. But that goes without saying.

Be very careful of the private, especially the CWMU areas. They mean business if you get caught.

The elk tend to move a bit between private/CWMU and public. Will have to catch them when they do.

There is a ton of area the elk do not inhabit. If it were me, and I had help, don't stay together. I'd spread my guys throughout elk areas to find where they happen to be and yes, get high and glass. It is a glassable unit. So trudging around looking for fresh sign is not as productive as other units. Good luck.

Very much Appreciated on the info! no hurt feelings here, We are already in good shape and we like to key in on areas like this that are tough on the knees and back! Ive got some info to stay close to high tops and near kennicot if the access can be granted. but as far as good vantage points to glass im all ears. I have a Vortex razor 85mm that can see a long way and will indeed save our legs as need be. I appreciate any and all info and have no problem if youd rather message me instead :) again thank you for the info so far! Just trying to get my brother on a respectable elk for his first one!

ive spent a lot of time in the unit over the years. if i were you, i wouldnt even think about wasting your time on the stansburys... all the elk worth hunting are on the oquirrhs... get high early, get good glass and wait for one to get in a good spot for a stalk
