Hey All!

Was wondering what type of footwear some of you wear when sneaking into bow range? I've heard wool socks to basketball shoes. Just wondering on loose gravel, dry ground, what some of you use? I was looking at the Lizard Trek II's.. Just looking for other options! Thanks

I've been using SneekTec the last few years....they work pretty good. Same as Calrton?s Cat Paws.

Well I purchased a pair of stalker booties from Cabelas ...big mistake...slippery cloth bottoms nearly killed myself falling sliding you name it...in the garbage, smartwool socks work really well.

))))???>

Try some double sole moccasins. Crepe or thin rubber work ok as well as leather. They can be slick on ice, wetness or loose leaves. Very quiet though and protect your feet a bit.
Russell makes a stalking boot with a crepe rubber sole that works well, pricey though.
An ankle high moccasin boot would work very well but not slip on and off as quickly as a low moccasin.

Where would you find some double sole moccasins? Last year I wore slippers, lol, they were light and quiet, but no warmth at all. I figure moccasins would have a little more warmth.

Lone Peak Leather Company make an actual product for this called Stalkasins. I have heard great things from guys that use them.

Sneek Boots are nice because you don't need to take off you boots. They strap on the bottom of your boots.

Google them , lots come up.
Deer and elk hide is not as durable as cowhide or moose. So look at the materials.
You can get a slip on that works well or an ankle high that laces tighter. Rubber soles are also available.
Some nice ones made by native peoples in Canada and the US. Carl Dyer and Arrow I believe are made more for rugged wear.

Lots of threads on this, so utilizing search is a good thing.

I came across a product called "Safari Sneakers" by a company called Crooked Horn at my local Sportsmans Warehouse just before bow season last year so I figured I'd give 'em a shot. If I recall, I think they were $34 for a pair. It is designed to slip over your boots and secures tightly with velcro at the top.

It won't turn you into a ghost, but man, it dampens a significant amount of sound from your footsteps. Their website says it dampens 80% of sound but I can't verify that.

In any case, it helped me to sneak to within 25 yards of a buck without it hearing a dang thing. Except...it did nothing to fool its nose because the buck got a whiff of something that wanted to eat it, so it bounced off.

The only thing is the booties are very light and look a little flimsy, but it seems to be holding up well with no tears or rips after one season.

Nailed it, by far the best there is. Not the cheapest but you pay for what you get. Custom fitted also. I need to order some.
