Hey guys, going to drive from Arizona to Alaska this June and am going to Fairbanks then down to Denali for about 3 days then we are going to try and go fishing down around Ninilchik and Homer for a few days. Maybe a day for Halibut and a few days of Salmon, or trout. Any info would be great. Just going to be a tourist for a few weeks. Would love to be there during the fall hunting but I've got an archery bull elk tag here in AZ. so I am looking forward to that.

I'm sure you've already got a major road trip like this planned out to a T. The most important thing you can do is get the Milepost. It has invalueable info of dang near your whole trip. Even at a few weeks, you will find all of your time will be behind the wheel. The 5 days you'll spend on the road, one way, is an adventure in itself. The fog and poor visability will have you slowed down to a crawl, while the moose will have you white-knucklin the wheel the whole way. Them damned things aren't like deer. They seem to hang back, out of sight, and then charge the road out of nowhere.
The kings will be running in june on the peninsula, so you should have a blast fishing from Soldotna to Homer. Rainbows, dolly's, and char abound. Halibut and clammin' oh my! There is so much opportunity up there to be a tourist, you'll want to move there. Have fun, and post pics of the trip when you get back.

Hey Zekers,
Thanks for the info. Really looking forward to the trip. We will be pulling my 26ft. trailer and just kick around. I hope the Mt. Redoubt valcano doesn't spoil any of our fun. I am sure this wont be my last trip, but will probably fly next time.
I'll post some pictures when I get back.

I have some fishing contacts I could put you in touch with for Salmon and Halibut.

Thanks Littlejoe,
I would love any info. We are still in the planning stage and are interested in any recomondations you could make.

Call Thad Stokes, he owns TNT Adventures down by Homer. I have fished for Salmon, Halibut and Ling Cod with him several times. It is great. He can be reached at (435) 770-8338. He resides in AK but has UT cell phone number. He can tell you what is avaialable at that time. Fishing for Silver Salmon out of Seward is by far and away the best trips I have ever been on. Fishing for Ling Cod is absolutely amazing as well. I love the taste of Halibut but for myself they are not nearly as fun to catch as Salmon and Cod. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Dave,

Been fishing in Alaska a couple of times out of Ninilchik and Cooper Landing. I've done the tourist thing a couple of times. PM me and I'll share what info I can.
