Bear Fence

Do any of you use an electric bear fence while in the backcountry? If so, do you think it is worth it to buy and pack in if you are backpacking? Also, what make/model do you have or recommend? Thanks.

I was scouting an area in NW Wyoming this weekend and I counted 9 Grizzlies on Saturday so it has me thinking...

We went on a caribou hunt on the north slope last august. To appease my wife she required my cousin and I to take a bear fence. I bought the udap and it went with us. We never took it out of the package. However, on an elk hunt in NW Wy our outfitter had a bear fence around camp. Bears visited our camp every night, but not one bear came on our side of the fence. In comparison, we saw 1 grizzly in alaska. We saw 9 grizzlies in Wy. I will say that I would have slept a "little" better if we had used it in alaska. our transporter religiously used a fence anytime he camped on the tundra. He used 2...one around his plane and another around his camp. If we were in NW Wy you can bet we would have put it up.
