I am going to order here shortly a Savage 17HMR and have not decided on a scope yet. Any suggestions of a good one to get that is not MORE than the cost of the rifle.

Here is a picture of the one I plan on buying.

Really depends on the application. If you are going to just plink around with it just about any scope will do. If you plan on doing longer range small varmint hunting you may want to look at a larger power varible. I put a 6 1/2X20 Leupy on mine and it is great for my application.

Take a look at the Cabela's Caliber-Specific Riflescopes
for $99.99. They have a ballistic reticle that is calibrated for the 17 HMR bullet drop out to 200 yards. I have used mine on many trips to the plains of Wyoming and I love it. Another scope I am impressed with is the Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 with BDC. You can go to their web/ spot on and enter your ballistics and it will give you yardages on their BDC reticles. Retail is $179.99

I know several will say they are junk ,but I have a Centerpoint 4-16x40 I bought at Walmart for $69. Had it over a year now and stays centered and has served me well.I think these work well on a low recoil rifle. For the money they are clear and bright .
