Whats the deal with Nikon service?

Sent a scope back to them to have it checked out. Recieved one e-mail which stated the scope was covered and would be either repaired or replaced. Never heard another word from them till I called in about it and was informed that the scope could not be repaired so they were going to send me a replacement within 7-10 days. That was a month ago. Called in again last week talked to a service rep who said she would find out what the holdup was and somebody would be in touch either by phone or e-mail. Yep you guessed it not a damn word! I actually really liked the scope other than it seems really fragile next to my Leupold scopes. had my eye on another Nikon but if this is how they stand behind their lifetime warranty I doubt that will happen.
I have sent optics back before (never Nikon) and have never had such a run around. Anybody else had any dealing with them.

Nikon replaced the twist-out eyecup on my wife's Monarch's in 10 days, no cost. They were great. Hopefully you get your stuff worked out.

PS. I sent my dad's old 2x7 Leupold scope back after a reticle broke. They called and said that model wasn't repaired any more and asked if they could replace it. I received a Vari-X III 4.5-14x50 in the mail. Obviously a MUCH more expensive scope than the one I had sent in. I keep buying Leupold now.

In my experience, most of these better known optics companies take care of the little guy, but you are clearly being screwed.

I would call that service rep and politely and respectfully tell him that he has about three days to get you new glass or you will be posting the current status of this situation in every forum you can find.

Bad rep is hard to recover from. Use the power of the pen...er...keyboard.

I had a bad run in with Nikon and there service once, because of that I would be hard pressed to purchase another Nikon product. Hopefully you will get everything all worked out.

Well after another phone call letting them know I was pretty dissatified with their service I was informed that the scope was being replaced with a newer model that would not be available for another 4 weeks or so and they would let me know. Will have to wait and see how it turns out.
