Budget Binoculars

I'm looking to get a set of budget binoculars and I'm torn between the Vortex Diamondbacks and the Leupold BX-2 Alpines. I'm guessing the Alpines are new this year because I haven't found a lot of information about them. That is why I'm asking here. I know the Diamondbacks have a long standing reputation as being good entry level optics. These will be used for the once maybe twice elk hunt a year and whitetail hunting back east.

I use the 8x42 Diamondbacks whitetail hunting and really like them. For elk hunting I would suggest 10x42 if you hunt where you can glass far off, the 8x42 if you hunt a lot of timber.

Diamond backs are great for the price. Have a set in the Arsenal. I hunt nm and most of my binos have been upgraded to 12?50's love em.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-24-19 AT 01:38PM (MST)[p]I've always been a fan of Leupold so maybe I'm biased. I recently bought a pair of $125 - 10x42 Redfield Rebels who are made by Leupold and I compared them against my $600 pair of 12x50 Leupold Mojave?s and I honestly can't see that much of a difference to justify almost a $500 price difference. Definitely worth checking out.

Have you looked through either of those?

The eye cups matter as much as anything else and need to fit your brow build.

I won't buy a pair of Mavens because of the eye cups. Zeiss are similar. I bought a pair of Vortex because they fit me.

If I felt like spending more, I would've gone with the bandwagon Swaro's.
