Well, my son was the lucky one to get the tag this year and he is only 13 years old. How lucky is that? I have put in most of my life with no luck. We have been on a few Antelope hunts but only one in Utah on the Dutton unit this year. I just don't know much about Utah Antelope and I am hoping to get some opinions on what units you guys think are the best?
I would like to narrow it down to just a few units and spend a lot of time in them. I hope he will be able to look over a bunch of bucks and find the one HE wants to shoot even if its not the biggest one around. I really just want him to have a great time on the hunt.
A couple of units that come to mind are Book cliffs south,
North San Rafael.
We did see a good number of bucks on the Dutton but very few decent ones.
If you have any ideas I would like to hear them. Thanks

I LOVE the Dutton,Pauns'y unit, Especaily for archery.
But, For the Sportsmen permit I'd probably look at the
SW Desert....

I am getting the idea there could be a good buck in any of the units. That's a good thing. Thanks to you guys willing to give you'r opinions. It's going to be a fun year.

Congrats to your son wow 13 years old and holding the Sportsman's tag. Well I did draw an antelope tag just not the Sportsman's my son and I both true southwest desert Muzzy tags... living up north don't know much about this unit I won't have much time to scout... so if anyone has any suggestions we would love to hear them it would be greatly appreciated thanks again and congrats to all of you who drew their tags

I would check out the SW desert. We have taken 4 bucks out of there in the last few years and all were around 75". We seen a few that were bigger, around the 80" mark. A lot of goats to look over out there.

I know less about pronghorn in Utah than any other big game animal but do want you to tell your son Congratulations from this old curmudgeon.
My wife had a tag in the SW desert 34 years ago and my daughter had one south of Moab about 15 years ago. Other than those, I've not hunted them much in Utah.
It's going to be good no matter where you go.

Congrats to your son on winning the utah antelope lottery :)

If i had that tag id be spending my summer scouting the SW desert also.
There are some HUGE!! goats on the unit.

Sure there are other units that can produce great goats as well, but SW desert would be my #1 starting point.

Good luck to you guys!!

Thanks again for the help. I have been looking around San Rafael, Book Cliffs and one unit up north. I have only saw one big enough to shoot. It's going to be a fun summer looking around.
