Best General Deer Hunt

First of all I get that I'm asking about General deer, tags you can draw every year or two, or three.

So I wouldn't give up specific info if it was me.

I'm just want a Unit I can hunt 2 years in a row with the potential to pull one quality buck out.

My wife and I both have 7-8 General points so I plan on applying with my son next year, getting there a week early and hunt the entire season. Then do the same thing the following year with my wife.

I realize these are General hunts with tons of hunters, lower average age class of deer, etc.

Just looking for a Unit where we can do this.

What do you consider a good deer ? 150, 160 , 170 ?

Depends the style of hunting you are looking for and goals of a quality deer.

Do you want to hike a ton, backpack, short/long day trips, atv/4x4 hunting close to roads?

I prefer long hikes before day light and/or backpacking away from other hunters so some units are better for that than others.

Are you a nonresident?

LAST EDITED ON Jul-24-17 AT 08:25PM (MST)[p]Answers: Good Deer? Since we're talking General Deer, a 150" buck would be nice. But I'm not caught up on score although I realize it's how we judge deer. A 26", med/heavy horned 4x4 would be the goal.

Hunting Style: don't think driving my atv around will get me what I'm looking for. Either a couple hour walk in the dark to get where we need to be, or pack in on horses. Son would be up for either. Wife would probably prefer packing in, setting up camp and shorter hikes to glassing points each day. Me too but I'd do what it takes.

I'd prefer area with more remote country and that is glassable.
