Looking at this hunt for elk don't think there is any deer hunts going on during this hunt, have 13pts wondering what any thoughts. Thanks and good luck this year in draws to everyone

The biggest issue you'll have is Sanpete County aggressively promotes ATV riding on the Manti. Having said that, if you want a very fun hunt with nearly unlimited access, I'd do it. Wouldn't hurt to check with FS to find where the grazing rotations are, there are sheep. There are cows. But their has been since becoming of white men in the area, the elk have adapted.

Awesome time of year to be on the Manti

Yep, deerlove brings up the biggest point. You mentioned that there are no deer hunts going, but there will be both spike and cow elk hunts going on at that time.

Not trying to dissuade you from the permit, just letting you know that the LE elk hunters will not be the only hunters on the mountain at that time. If you have the points, and you want to hunt, I say do it. The Manti is a cool place, with a ton of elk.

I've never done it, but from what I understand it can be a tough hunt as most of the elk will not be accessible at that time of year as they are on private lands.

Take that with a grain of salt, and I'm just regurgitating what I've heard and that is not personal experience.

bobber not trying to scare you but stick to Manti, my boy has 8 pts and were not waiting 20 years for a tag, will put in for the mid.

Don't worry about private land on the Manti it is one of the least amount of private verses public units in the state mostly Forest expecially the good elk habitat. Lots of huntiably elk anytime of year on Manti but also lots of elk hunters.I live at the base and I grew up hunting the Manti don't hunt anymore too many ATV/UTV. Good chance getting a bull if you put in time scouting right before opening day. Look in 12 mile drainage beaver creek, clear Creek. Lots of elk no private.

Hunted deer down there for about a decade as a dedicated hunter. If you are willing to hike and have some help, the manti is on its way back IMO. road hunters beware it might be tough

For a non resident trying to come learn a unit as they hunt, the Manti would be a good choice. There are units that hold bigger bulls, but the Manti is very user friendly. It is a huge unit with tons of elk. There are endless options of places to hunt and access is great. But there are also plenty of places to get away from roads as well. If you're looking for a good experience and a decent bull, the Manti would be a great choice.
