Hey guys. No luck on drawing a NR muzzy tag for the Enterprise area and since I did get a NR Book Cliffs muzzy tag last year(thanks again for all the advice & pointers) I'll be working on building some points after the 2 year waiting period. I have to do something this year, so I am pondering the idea of exploring some new country. Thinking of trying to get one of the leftover muzzy tags for the Wasatch West area. The fact that there are leftover tags makes me wonder. From I've read the area is huge and there are lots of roads and lots of hunters, but that seems to be the name of the game nowadays on general units. Looking for a little info. Is the area a 3 ring circus or would it be worth the 14 hr. drive Thanks, be safe & good luck to all of you lucky tag holders this year.

LAST EDITED ON May-20-18 AT 09:54AM (MST)[p]I'd save your money and pass on the left over muzzy tags as a NR. Sure you could find a good buck on that unit, but having the unit in my back yard, if I hadn't drawn a tag, I'd just wait until next year and hope for better luck in the draws. 14 hours is a long way to go to stare at does and hear ATVs buzzing around all day

Spending time on the mountain is better then not. Don?t have really high hopes for big big deer on the west, there will be deer though. The muzzy is much less crowded then the rifle.

Hunted this unit all my life. Yes there are hunters, but few get any distance at all from a trail. Enough ambition and you can hunt alone.
There are mature deer on this unit, always have been.
They are very difficult to locate and harder to hunt but they are there.
I say go for it but don't have high hopes with little to knowledge of the unit. It will take a long time to find all the obscure little holes in this unit, many seasons worth of time.

Thanks for the feedback Dryfly, DeerKiller & Deerhunter. Might be driving over to Denver in late June to visit my son. If so I can stop by for a day or two to look around the area. Looks like Spanish Fork is the closest place to get a room? Save the camping for a hunting trip. HA

Orem/Provo are near the center of the unit on the west edge.Provo canyon goes up the middle of the unit.

Spanish for is at the southern border of the unit on the west edge. Spanish fork canyon goes up the southern border.

Unless you already have an idea/area in mind I would head up the middle as opposed to either end.

If you decide to come and have no ideas, you can pm me and I will give you some general areas to start.
