Monroe Unit general deer season

My girlfriend and I drew Monroe general season rifle deer tags for this year. She has have never hunted out of state before, and I have only been out of state a couple times in my life and never Utah. We also have very little experience hunting open country, we live in the dense forests of north Idaho. This is only her second year ever hunting and she would be happy with nearly any buck for her first deer. I am hoping to find at least a small 4, or large 3 in the 150"+ range. However we are mainly going on this hunt for the experience of seeing and hunting in new and different beautiful places on a shoe string budget.

I normally would have already done a bunch of research, and had a plan in place as to specifically where we would camp and start, but do to family emergencies, and my uncle being diagnosed with cancer this summer, I am just now finding the time to start getting it figured out and a plan in place. We leave on Oct. 17, which should give us the 18th and 19th to scout, and we plan on staying through the 28th season end.

We will be bringing our tow behind camp trailer to stay in, and two atv's for transportation. We are in average physical condition, and capable of some hiking.

I am under the impression that the deer will most likely be migrating from the upper elevations down in to the lower sage, pinion, oak type terrain during this hunt. I am also assuming that the snows have probably already started up high by now. Do you know if this is true?
Would any of the slightly more remote drainages off the west side still be accessible? Maybe concentrate of the lower country instead? I'm just not sure where to start or what to try.

Any information you can provide me about this unit, where to stay, areas to concentrate on, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

My brother hunted that for elk a couple years ago and we saw a lot of does and some small bucks early in the season but pretty low. They should still be on the same area. I'll send you a pm in the next couple days at the latest ?
