I drew CO unit 4 Pronghorn. I haven't hunted Pronghorn before, and am looking for a fun hunt to take my kids along with me, they will be 8 and 6. I plan on hunting the north west corner of the unit primarily.

For those of you that know this unit, what are my chances of getting a buck (size not really important at this point) in three days of hunting and my kids being able to see it?

Also, any tips on hunting pronghorn appreciated.

That can be a tough spot in a drought year Trevor. There's an alfalfa field up there that holds most of em and the guy has it enrolled in some type of youth hunt program. Yer best bet might be further south on some private but that too can be tough with the outfitters leasing some of the better ground. There's still a few up around that alfalfa field that sneak off the private from time to time. Pray for rain, be yet best hope! Good luck!

Trevor,

I had that tag two years ago. I got a pretty nice buck opening morning and saw a few others taken that morning as well in the area you're describing. I think you'll do just fine and have a great time with your kids.

Good Luck,

John

I've had the tag twice. You won't have a problem filling your tag in 3 days. It's going to be harder to not fill your tag to be honest. Don't shoot the 1st one you see! Not a trophy unit but it's a very target rich environment. Your kids are gonna have a blast!

I have hunted it many times. Lots of people, and lots of cactus. Maybe I will see you up there this year.

I assume we will see lots of people. There are like 80 tags and I would imagine most will be in that part of the unit.

Andy, do you have a tag this year? If so, good luck to you.

Got this little buck over the weekend. Kids had a great time. It was a really fun hunt, other than sitting and kneeling in cactus.
