Gunny weather?

I was in Gunny last Wednesday for work, and there was no snow in the mountains that I saw. I was told it had rained in town and north in CB since Monday. That is as current of news that I have. I will be going back over Friday afternoon for first elk. It looks like there may be some snow this weekend and through this week, but from what I've seen it doesn't look like it will amount to much.

Unrelated, I ran into 2 herds of elk on my way over on US HWY 50. About 30 in each herd. 1 bull (really nice one) in one group and 2 in the other, one of which was bugling like crazy. Both herds were within 150 yards of the highway, and on private ground (imagine that.)

For some reason, I was a tad late for my first meeting over there....

Thanks for the info CCity65. I'd have been late too. I know snow this time of year is unlikely, but a fella can hope. We got hammered first season in 2013. Both coming and going. Really got the critters up and moving. Ill be in 66 second season for deer this year.

I hunted 2nd season in 07 and have hunted 1st season ever since. In 07, I seem to remember having 8-10 inches on the ground. Opening day was clear, but the snow moved in the next couple of days, or so. From 08 until now, I've hunted 1st season. It seems there is always a day or so where it is a mix of rain/snow/sleet, but nothing that has ever amounted to more than a few inches. Of late, my memory tells me 2nd season has been pretty dry and warm.
1st season this year is shaping up to be much like the last 10, years, maybe a day or so of wet weather, but a good amount of sunshine as well. One of these years winter is going to start in October like it did in the past. Maybe this will be the year. For me, weather doesn't seem have much affect on how much game I see. Therefore, I've grown to the point where I'd just as soon have sunshine and moderate temps, lol. Good luck to you.

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. "

Yeah,I get that CCity. We do pretty well on elm first season. Even with blue bird days. Better than rain that's for sure.
