Anyone out there hunting elk in Unit 8 after Thanksgiving this year?

5 days scouting best bull I have seen is a small 6 point maybe 300"
I have spotted a lot of small bulls. I had this tag last year and I chose not to shoot anything, I have another three areas that I need to eliminate. I am at work today till Tuesday night, and I will be there until the hunt starts. I am trying not to get disappointed but not looking good!

Yep, same story here. We?ve scouted 3 days, and seeing the similar things; a couple 6?s, a few 5?s and a lot of smaller bulls. So we'll see how it goes . . . . there'll be a few good bulls to come out of this unit.

My hunt was great, I hunted with my nine year old for 6 days before the hunt looking for a shooter. How did your hunt go? The biggest bull we saw was a 6x6 maybe 300" I saw him twice and never found him before opening day. So on opening morning I went to where the bulls go with all the pressure, you know the 600+ tags that are issued creating havoc dust and people everywhere. We shot a 6x5 in the honey hole. My sons first ELK hunt he got to see first hand how to get it done. Had I been by myself I would have never shot the bull but I wanted my son to experience the whole thing.

My story is much the same, my boy with a bull tag . . . his first. We hunted about five days, passing on three bulls. We were after a big 6, however couldn't make it happen. Seen one 340 to 360 bull killed. We learned some new country and enjoyed my son.
