EDITED. I accidentally posted Resident BP stats and took them down so I didn't get your hopes up. I'll see if I can find that data.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-05-15 AT 10:03AM (MST)[p]15 or 16 as a NR at the moment. You can hunt there in another 20 or 25 years with the way the point creep is going. Good luck!

I think it was 7 and 8 for the early hunts. If the system is changed as proposed you will have a small random chance at all the units in the future. Even the Strip.

Don't forget, they lowered the tag quota for this hunt as well. I did have a buddy that drew with two points year before last.

Last year it was about 8 pts for the east side and 7 pts for the west side to almost guarantee you a tag. We're NRs and putting in this year with a combined average of 10 points, which I hope guarantees us a tag.

If you applied with 10 points going in (11 with application point) you'll get it under the 20% pass rule.

Hope you are not disappointed though when you draw. This is by design a MEAT hunt, and most of the bucks killed on this hunt are UNDER 2.5 years old!

Best idea is to plan on hunting the full 10 days and HOPE you are lucky enough to get one of the handful of true trophy class bucks that ARE taken there every year on this hunt.

Thanks for the reply Don. I've hunted the Kaibab quite a few times with archery gear and once with a 12AE late rifle tag. We actually did better on the archery hunts.

I know the trophy bucks are tough to come by, but I'm tired of collecting points and it allows me to hunt with a good buddy that isn't trophy minded. We can hunt the entire 10 days too.
