Hey all, I drew this tag and was looking for some info from anyone who has had this tag. Not looking for where to hunt, but was wondering if the deer will be rutting and if the fence on the border has an effect on the migration. Thanks for any info.

Early or late? I have had the early tag twice. 1st time was in 2006. It was a great hunt and I did see a little rutting activity. I didn't start hunting in 2006 until Nov 1st. It was a great hunt. The hunt ended around the 6th I believe and it got better each day. I had the same hunt last year and the hunt ended Nov 2nd. Not a great hunt and the fence, I thought, had a major impact. I will not apply for that hunt again. Hope that helps.

I've hunted the 12B early and there's plenty of smaller bucks to choose from. I've never been on the 12B muzzy hunt, but it follows the early hunt so I think you would need it to get really cold/snow to make for a great hunt. There are resident deer, but few and far between. I helped on the 12B late rifle last year and we saw a lot of 130-150" bucks and two better bucks at 170 and one near 190. The 170 we harvested and the 190 we never could get a good shot on. On your hunt expect to see a lot of deer and hope for an early snow! Good luck!

Should be a pretty good hunt. Big unit. Tough to crack without a bunch of help. Lots of roads. Considering a guide? If Diy then would recommend going and driving around the two weekends before the hunt to get to know roads and to see where the deer are at.

I had this tag in 2007, before the fence and shot a nice buck with extra kickers. He was showing some rut when I shot him. since then I hunted the early rifle in 2013 and the fence kept most of the deer on the Utah side. We didnt harvest a buck that year. Not sure I would apply for 12B again until I see if the bucks figure out the under hwy tunnels.
