It's a little early but I am thinking about putting in for an archery elk hunt in Arizona this coming season. I do not have any points so I know it's a long shot but u never know. I live in henderson Nevada so I wanted to stay in the northern part of the state. I was hoping someone would know of a good area with a higher chance of me drawing a tag for a non resident. I'm sure it will take some time and some points but I'll continue building them until I do. I ran into a guy on my deer hunt and he mentioned the area around Williams wouldn't be to hard for a non resident to draw for archery. Not sure how true that is but just curious of what you guys think a good area would be. Doesn't need to be a prime area with huge bulls just something I can have a shot at filling a tag with some work and scouting

With few or NO b.p. I'd suggest picking unit 6a as a good 2nd choice and a tougher to draw unit around Williams as a 1st pick.Good Luck ...

check out go hunt or toprut & see what your odds of drawing are.
A NR early archery tag for elk is not going to be easy to draw.
I am a NR with 7 pts going into the draw this year & I have been putting in for early archery. I don't expect to draw this year, but you never know since AZ changed the 10% NR tags to 5% bonus pass &
5% general pool. my dad is a resident & he drew a late rifle tag for 2017 it was his first elk tag since 2011. We are not putting in for top tier units either.

PM sent.

The late archery tags are much easier to draw... tougher hunt, but guys that do them regularly figure it out pretty good.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-07-18 AT 06:33PM (MST)[p]Your odds of drawing any Bonus Pass hunt are zero; you won't be in that draw.
Look for a hunt with a quantity of 1-2 Pass tags and hope for a low number in that pass.
