We over the last 5 years have gone 11/11 on cow tags in unit 6-C with 9 of those cows killed within 30 minutes of the of the start of the hunt on the first day! Dumb luck? Sure, but lots of elk and pretty predictable.

Unit 45 has allot of deer but the key is too get a good way from the roads. We own property in the Pecos and rarely do I make this a priority hunt or even hunt there. I try and use this property to let youth hunters get a tag if they didn't draw to harvest there first deer. I have seen an increase in buck numbers and maturity. The best bucks we have been seeing is on the Barrillas side of the unit but, it did produce pinon the last two years which definitely helped. The wilderness has good numbers but horses are essential. Generally speaking there are deer throughout the whole unit but scouting is the key.
