Hello, as a brand new big game hunter, I decided I would try and draw a tag and was actually successful. I drew the 2nd rifle for MB in unit 6c. One of my buddies actually drew the same hunt so we will be looking to fill 2 tags. We are both green when it comes to big game and are actually going to start scouting in the coming weeks. If anyone can provide a few tips for that unit that could increase our chances of harvesting, it would mean a lot. Where would be a good place to start a scouting weekend? Areas to start. I really appreciate anything that anyone can provide. Thanks for your time.

There are no elk in 16C. LOL
Iv hunted C many times during the Sep deer Bow hunts and only seen a few good bulls. I was mostly on the lower elevations. So my advise would be go deep and away from the roads.

I appreciate all of the info. I am actually taliking about the northern unit 6c. I'm not sure if it was a typo or we were talking about 2 different units.

Thank you

What do you charge? What are you able to assist with? I am mostly just looking for advice on where not to waste my time. Not asking for secret spots or any sort of thing like that. Just trying to get an idea. I have received a few great and very helpful tips through PM's which I am grateful for. Thanks for your time also.

Whoa--please don't take this wrong way, but a skin-walker is probably the last thing I'd ever want to meet in the woods... ;-)

Kind of ironic that "Missing" was partly filmed in the Valle Caldera. You can still see the movie prop that that they used for the house from SR4.

Anyone have any luck in this unit? Hoping for an update as my hunt is fast approaching and I'm pretty excited!

After scouting quite a few places(between hunts as to not disturb fellow hunters) I haven't seen anything legal to shoot. Tried calling but heard nothing back. It seems they have just disappeared. Has anyone had any luck or been in any elk in 6c at all? My hunt starts on October 21st and hopefully we can get something. Thanks for all the help!

So I have a question with my hunt that is less than one week away. It is a bit of an oddball question but how do I respect the other hunters in the area by not crossing the area they are working? If they are working on a bull they have been calling and I shoot it not knowing they were there, am I in a violation of some sort of hunter code? Is that bull technically mine? Am I required to give it to them? I don't want to start anything especially since this is my first hunt, just want to respect others while out there. Thanks in advance.

So it depends on a couple things. First I'll state it is all public land and is a public hunt. second, if you know there is someone hunting a area and working a elk i would back on out and let them hunt(nothing says you can not hunt the next ridge over and possible still get that bull). third, if you dont know there is anyone in the area and you kill a bull and someone claims it was theirs i would keep the bull but offer the other hunter a little meat if he can help you pack it out. Win win for everyone. bottom line is it is public land and there is a hunter ethic and it is to be respectful and honest.

It's weird. No elk up here in 6c, but I do have cell signal by polvedera peak. Haha. Can't get in them at all. Lots of sign, just no bodies.
