Don't watch the news much and just seen this today. Guess this guy has been missing since the 10th. Terrible, it's been a long time to be out there. Hope for the best.

I hate to say ,but I'm with Paul . Awful situation. I pray they find him regardless what state he's in.

It's strange, according to the news survalance cameras at the diamond ranch has a couple pics of him, then he made it all the way down from Barillas peak down to San John where he knocked on a lady's door in the middle of the night asking for help and she said she was scared and sent him on his way. Hell I think I would have stayed at her door step till the cops showed up. Who knows what state of mind he was in by then and decided to wonder off again.

Bowdeadly I hadn't heard that . I am wondering if he may have had a head injury or was incoherent for some reason. Poor family.

Ok this is getting creepy, people are calling it the Pecos Triangle. Apparently about 10 years ago another hunter walked away from the camp site to hunt and at about 100 yards in the snow his tracks just disappeared. Google lost Pecos hunter and read the story. Can't seem to link it here.

I know this is off topic! But I've considered applying for the muzzy elk hunt here because of better draw odds and being wilderness area. I've hunted a couple wilderness areas in CO on foot. My question is, can you get into some good areas for elk in the pecos on foot? I know it's big country! I've looked at the Jarososa fire area but it looks a ways in to access by foot? Any thoughts? I wouldn't be opposed to someone/guide packing me in if someone has recommendations!

Make sure your life insurance is up to date. And stay together with a buddy at all times, we don't want you to end up on that list.

The author makes it sound like theres a lot of trails and roads in that story many of locals have got lost by elk mtn.You drop into that Burro Basin and die someone will have to step on your skeleton to find you.

Same with the area Mel got lost. You go towards that Mora river country from elk mtn ,And that is some thick dark vast country.

Miguel nailed it. Some really secluded country in there . The Mora river from Mora flats to where it intersects with the Pecos is some of the thickest stuff you'll ever see.

Oh the guy asking about muzzy elk.... Just get a drop camp and save yourself the hassle ..

...and then I saw where he went.
Vinie & Bugle said it all.
Ditto the drop camp for that hunt,I had a blast.

That's my thoughts too. I think it's worth it especially for the pack out if successful! Any thoughts on the unit on different places? Like I said I kinda liked the Jarosa fire area(seemed a lil more secluded) but I'm just starting to research the unit.
