While I was hunting my tag for archery elk and then helping my buddy with his hunt after I ate my tag. (He then proceeded to eat his tag also). We both easily could have killed small bulls every day, but, neither of us could close on a big bull.
Meanwhile on the weekends DW could only hunt one or 2 days on the weekend because of school found a couple of the largest bucks we have ever seen in the unit in 2 different places. Could not close on the largest one, but, with his girlfriend on the spotting scope. This is one of 3 best bucks we have ever found in the unit we live in, and he stalked in and killed it at 59 yards with his bow. Dont think I could have done that. Lots of scouting on the weekends paid off.
