I was able to harvest a beautiful Pronghorn on opening morning October 20th. We had stalked in on a group early morning with 2 really nice bucks in it. Got within 70 yards off this knob but the does we're watching us. The two bucks stayed down low just below my sight level and I had no shot. The does figured something was weird and off they went. Love how fast they can run.
So we moved on and about a mile later we spot like 7 separate herds of Pronghorn in this massive wash. We got up way behind them and hiked around about a mile and got set up on top of a draw. We could barely see the highest herds backs and they were slowly feeding up to us. Two trucks were slowly driving in about a mile and a half way out from these Antelope but all the groups were getting real edgy and started moving. There were 5 real monsters in the group but they all kept filtering low below this lip of the ridge we were on and I had no shot at one of the big guys. I had about 5 smaller bucks that cruises through this small window I had and finally a descent Pronghorn walk through my window right at 104 yards and boom down he went with one shot. He?s not the biggest we saw but I got to share the whole memory with my 10 year old son and my brother who drove in from Lubbock to be pack mule. Beautiful animal. Great hunt. Best memories ever.
