(antelope) so obviously these units that are comprised of mainly private ground are easier draws namely for that reason. my question is, is it troublesome to get permission from landowners? would a person try to get permission on multiple lands, if so how does that work with other hunters doing the same? is it all just a crap shoot if your walking in on someones parcel and there is 10 other hunters hunting the same 1000 acres?
i guess what would be deemed normal questions and expectations of hunting a private parcel to those that routinely do it or have just done it in the past?

i hunted 75 a couple years ago, the wife and i are just looking at working on something that we could try and hunt annually, while we build points.

madmoose:

Generally, the antelope hunt areas in the northeast part of WY that have Type 1 licenses available after the draw are nearly impossible to gain landowner permission to hunt. Almost all of the ranches are either leased to an outfitter, or outfitted by the ranch owner.

A lot of the hunt areas have very limited access to public lands, so DIY hunts are difficult in these hunt areas.

Those ranches that are not outfitted and charge a trespass fee to hunt almost always have groups of hunters (usually nonresidents) that come back year after year, so there is little chance of finding a ranch to hunt.

Sorry to give you the bad news, but just being honest.

Moose, ClearCreek is pretty much right on. However, with some legwork its possible to find a ranch that you could pay a trespass fee to get on. Call any local contact you can think of that might know landowners in the area. Use your imagination. The old adage "you get what you pay for" certainly is true. Most decent ranches will now charge in the neighborhood of $500. I'd ask 1] how big is the ranch ? and 2] how many hunters are allowed. In most of those *limited public access areas there is SOME public land. I've done my research and picked up leftover tags several times in the past. At best those are a real crap shoot. Of course everyone's heard of the guy that kills an 80 incher on the only section of public land in the unit but those are few and far between. I hunted a unit in North Central this fall and saw more hunters than Antelope. I never filled my tag. Good Luck. Chip
