Outfitter suggestions for 2018 elk

Depends on what type of hunt you want. After a true trophy or just a nice bull, meat hunt? Want a wilderness type hunt in a camp or a lodge hunt? Want to deal with bears, grizz or wolves, or just have a nice hunt without all that worry? Lots of options.
Remember that ranchers do not have to have an outfitters license to hunt their own land and leased land so you might find a nice ranch hunt instead of an outfitted wilderness type hunt. Lots of ways to go.

56, 58 or 59 late hunts. if you can ride a horse 56 or 59, if you don't want to then 58.
If I had max points I'd look at nothing else , not only because of the elk quality but the quality of the experience. . as far as I know Mead is the only outfitter on the Hoodoo ( 58 ) . there are several good ones in 56 and 59 .

I agree with the suggestions regarding units 56, 58 and 59. Can't go wrong with Carl at Boulder Basin, Meade at 7D Ranch or Justin at Wapiti Ridge Outfitters. Still tough odds for any of the units with maximum points. I have maximum points also and have been applying unsuccessfully for this area for 8 years now. I've heard that the late hunt on the Hoodoo Ranch (Unit 58) with Meade is a sure thing for a big bull but is more expensive than the others due to the private property trespass fee. Good luck in the draw.
I did answer your question. it's up to you what type of hunt you want and how much you want to spend. and yes it might take a while to draw. if you really want a sure thing tag next year these won't fit your needs.
If it were me, I'd hunt either 56 with Meade or JJ , or 59 with JJ. I've hunted sheep and elk with JJ twice and have nothing but good to say. I know Meade and he's top notch as well.
I think Carl is a good outfitter but I wouldn't hunt with him myself. I'll just leave it at that.
As PLK said a 58 hunt with Meade on the Hoodoo would be almost a sure thing for a nice bull. without a doubt the gentleman's choice for a late WY elk hunt.
56 is in Dec and it can be brutal. most outfitters day trip it from the lodge so if you don't know what it's like to ride in a cold saddle all day you're in for a treat. not a hunt for everyone but possibly the best hunt in WY .
59 is a pack in hunt with the potential for a great bull. probably my favorite elk hunt of any. it's everything you think of when you think of the perfect wilderness elk hunt.
My wife and I have both burned our points on these hunts so if I do it again it will be on a commissioners tag. I think they're worth it and I may very well do just that in the next couple years.

Carl Sauerwein at Boulder Basin Outfitters has taken many Governors Tag holders elk hunting.
Justin Jarrett is the owner of Wapiti Ridge Outfitters.
Meade Dominick is the owner of 7D Ranch Outfitters.
All 3 have very good reputations when it comes to elk and bighorn sheep hunting in northwest Wyoming. A quick internet search will provide you with contact information for all three of these guys. Meade Dominick is the exclusive outfitter on the Hoodoo Ranch. Hunter can pay a trespass fee to hunt the Hoodoo earlier in the season but Meade is the only one allowed to guide on the Hoodoo the last 2 weeks of the elk season (Unit 58). I have talked with Meade on numerous occasions and I'm confident that you would be looking over dozens of 6 point bulls on the Hoodoo on the late hunt. I hope this information helps.

You should learn to be a little more appreciative when asking for help when you cant even do any research on your own obviously. Togwotee was helping you and in the time it took you to be rude towards him, you could easily have researched who outfitted in those areas through an amazing tool called google or the wyomings outfitter website. If you cant even put in enough effort to figure out what units are good to hunt, then maybe Private land down in unit 7 or something of that sort is more up your alley cause those hunts dont take much effort either...whereas the NW corner units actually can be hard long hunts in cold weather entirely dependent on snow falling.
