Bringing up oldest boy to Idaho this year for his first Mule Deer hunt, and my first out of state hunt. We're coming from Utah, I've been looking closely at unit 66. Other than the fact that it probably gets a lot of local traffic from Idaho Falls, what can you guys tell me about this unit? My boy will be good with any antlered buck, I'd like something better, but I'm by no means a trophy hunter.

Any input provided would be awesome. Also, are there many bears there, more specifically grizzly's (should I plan on carrying bear spray?).

Thanks.

No Grizzlies in that unit. You will have a good amount of other hunters. Hunting the field edges where there is public ground can be good. Just make sure you stay on public land or get permission. Finding access can be difficult. Otherwise you can go deeper into the forest land. Hopefully this is a little helpful. Do some preseason scouting if you can, getting to know the area.
