2018 Grizzly season proposal

Submitted comments his weekend. I did put one comment that this should only be open to residents since there is just one tag

I don't think they can give one tag to a NR. Up to 10% was what I interpreted. Either way, I'd be happy to apply as a NR if there is a remote chance. My comment was to clarify if there is zero chance, spell it out.

>Wouldn?t there have to be 10
>grizzly tags for it to
>even be possible for a
>nonresident to draw 1?

That was my comment exactly. but the proposal mentions non residents so i'm not sure if they can apply. if they really can't have a chance at drawing since they couldn't ensure 90% went to residents then they should spell that out.

My comments were that with an animal as iconic as the Grizzly Bear, it should be open to everyone. Even EVILNR's.

I would assume it will be somewhat like sheep tags, only one individual unit has more than 10 tags but nonresidents can still draw in any of the units with 1 tag.

Yes but in this case there's only 1 grizzly tag in the state. I'd agree that once they have 10 tags throughout different units in the state then nonresidents could draw up to 1 but not with the current proposal.

We should market this and sell one Auction tag to the highest bidder. Use funds to replace all NR funds and eliminate NR tags for those who think being an NR is the same as being a resident.

Thoughts?

Thoughts? It doesn't matter with a narrow minded attitude and blatant disdane for non-residents per your comment.

Sarcasm sport.

What Matt said, but the sarcasm comes from relentless whining from NR's on here.

Trust me the only one's advocating to level the playing field are the NR's. Move if you need.

The NR's grateful for the amazing opportunity here are welcome with open arms. Hell I'll even help you figure out how to move here and really enjoy what we have to offer.

I'll take a pass on the whining though.

They also excluded guys with lifetime licenses like myself from applying if they no longer live in Idaho. Extremely unhappy about this. Every other hunt I count as a resident just pay non res prices.

Lifetime license holders fall in the resident pool for applications and are not part of the cap if the 10% quota is met. The only difference in a resident that currently residides in Idaho and a liftime license holder that doesn't is the price we pay. One of the perks of buying a liftime license and one of the reasons I bought it. That's why I'm upset.

Ya, you are right they could claim that. As long as I have had that license there has never been any gray areas or exemptions.

I get where you're coming from, but I honestly believe any hunt that has 1 tag available should only be able to be drawn by someone who resides in the state of Idaho. Especially unit 11 sheep.

I now live in Wyoming and honestly I wish we had left the new bear tags here to residents for at least the first year also. I fully realize if seonene not living in the state got the 1 bear tag issued that would cause a pretty major outcry.

More of sticker shock when when my license number was denied for the first time ever.

Luckily I get my chance in WY this year and it's great for all of us we get to get to hunt them again.
