Hey look what is new. I wonder how many tags for each area? Looks like a way to get the NR to stay with Oregon. No points so it is a random draw.

Since they don't say I would assume 1 per hunt. why give more the number of applicants will be the same dumping $8 each.

This is just a revenue raiser with no biological consideration whatsoever. why start now I guess.

It's easy to say what difference will one mature animal per unit make. and that may be true. but a better question would be what difference will it make for wildlife? what will the money be use on? I think we know and the answer is the same way the money we already give ODFW is used. very poorly.

Sure I'll put in . but I don't approve of this .

There will be one tag per hunt code. We have had some preliminary discussions about using some of the money for winter range mule deer protection. We are losing quite a few mature bucks to poaching while they are vulnerable.

If the money is used for law enforcement I'd be 100% in favor . law enforcement is about the only thing of value thing I see coming from ODFW and we need more of it.

Somehow I imagine more of it going to hire more hippies to study wolves but I hope I'm wrong.

I met with ODFW Director Melcher about 2 weeks ago. We discussed exactly what you are saying. Paying for more protection on the winter ranges.

This year we have made a concerted effort this year to work the winter ranges and protect the mule deer. I got some pretty awesome pictures of some bucks from the troops out working. I obviously don't know where all of the money is going but we are working extremely hard to protect the mule deer bucks.

Once I hear how it all will be used I will update you guys.
