Tag Reductions

Well now they're closer to where they should have been for the last 15 years. now those units should be closed.

Who wants to bet those tags get moved to another unit? they're not going to lose that revenue.

This is as close as ODFW will ever come to admitting we have a mule deer problem. too little too late is better than nothing I suppose.

Stay Thirsty My Friends

It is not near enough! The thing ODFW has to worry about is last year's summer fawns that were bucks would be this years spike or forked horn maybe small 3. Those bucks get shot right off the road in most cases and basically are the foundation for "Hunter Opportunity," that ODFW strives for.

The problem is that deer is no longer alive in most units where cuts took place, so now What? Also the archery tag is still OTC and everyone and their brother will just be out flinging arrows even though they're not true archers!

They should just close it down for a year or two! Couldn't hurt at this point.

Looks like short list for deer, unless there just getting started Silvies didn't make the list they had a very tough winter.

Silvies did not make the list because some of those deer went north towards John Day which had a milder winter and some went south into the Juniper unit. It was a little better the further south they went.

I still think tags should of been cut personally just based on road kill alone.

Cuts or no cuts that unit gets hammered and archery season will be a flat out stampede in there this year.
