LAST EDITED ON Jan-15-19 AT 04:05PM (MST)[p]OK so I had to sit out 2018 due to family stuff, but was looking over the Ron Wold draw stats and it appears I may finally be able to draw the lone NR Mt. Emily archery elk tag this year with 21 points? Curious if I am reading the charts right? Can anyone tell how many points the successful NR drew with last year? Seems like 20?

If so, I think I need to go for it as I'll never reach Weneha. Thanks.

With 21 you should be able to draw that or the rifle tag most likely.

Or Walla Walla.

Or if you have a few year Wenaha will be within reach.

You have a good problem

Not sure about the draw odds are but I had the tag in 2016 so if you draw PM me and I'll tell you what I can about the unit.

Obviously it only takes one to drop down from Weneha or point building to get this tag (thanks to outfitter welfare & whopping 2 1/2% quota), but last year was the first I would have drawn had I applied. So I'm in the game. There's not that many above 21 points. And no plane tickets, I'll be driving whenever I draw. I will be paying close attention to my other applications, and plan to avoid potential overlaps just in case.

You're in a good place believe me.

If you're not already looking at Ron Wold's percentage tags then look at it. it's free and it will answer all your questions.

I have a bunch of points but this year will not work for me so Zim is safe from me. I have always planned on Wenaha. I will bow hunt though. What are some of the differences between the two units? Such as terrain, vegetation, remote access, elk concentrations?

The wilderness area in wenaha is a bit better, ive hunted both a lot. Mt emily is the easiest unit to access by foot and vehicle out of any big bull unit in oregon

Some MT Emily bulls, looked at about 160 Bulls today.

Just some winter fun.

Been sidetracked months shopping for then finally buying our first home in 12 years. Closed March 8th and hunting application season has taken a back seat. Many projects! Including first trophy room. Sucks but wasn't going to buy in Illinois and pay $15k property taxes/year to fund corrupt politician's state employee pension paybacks. Bought one in the Indiana countryside with $582/year taxes. 3/4 Acre lot so can shoot my bow in back yard. Suspended home projects for a business trip, and brought hunt file to continue applications. Making Nevada picks today, all avoiding the Mt. Emily archery dates. Hope to draw, but it's OK if I don't. Got lucky and new next door neighbor owns a berry farm getting pounded by deer overpopulation, in a great buck area. So got permission without even asking. Life is good and getting better since making our move.
