Spent a few days scouting last week. Seemed to be more sheep than anything. We looked over alot of country going to check a few more areas this year also.

Not for the amout of area we covered. The deer we all low and the elk we far and few between but lots of big horn sheep

Years ago when we hunted it, the bigger bucks were coming out of the west canyon, and moving up onto the rim searching for does. We hunted Hat Point down to Lords Flat. Once we got some snow you drive the road until you cut a good set of buck tracks and track them out onto the rim, good luck. JB

Back when I hunted it I think early 2000 one of the big bucks killed how I described above came in at 34" wide and 29" tall. Tallest buck measured by fish and game. We were told it score about 180 as it had crab claw forks. It is all about the air space. Big big buck. JB

Was the season later back then? I wouldn't think that you would see any snow there during the season as early as they are now.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-06-11 AT 10:12PM (MST)[p]Yes, closing the road is a GREAT thing. I've heard stories in the past of good success when you could drive in, but haven't heard much of anything good taken out of there the last five or six years, have you?

Miss,
Same season dates. Got an early snow, guys driving the road cut the tracks followed them to the buck on the rim.For the life of me cant remember the canyon to the west starts with a 'C' had a big burn go throught there. Anyway big buck heaven if the time is right. JB

I think the sucess comes for those that will work for it. I have aquaintnces that hunt it yearly and do well but they are not the average hunters either

I drew the elk tag in this area and I was out in the same area about 3 weeks ago looking for water to put a camp. I need to get out there again in the next few weeks to get my camp set up. I think we looked off of some of the same glassing points. Big big country. I have some high hopes about this hunt and like said before I will see how tough I am.

Come on Steve, you gotta get off that quad put your beer down and dive into that hole. Don't just look at it with binos. Get in there for a quick death march...

Hey, do you have more info on the bighorns you saw?? Were they off Grizzly? Anything big?

I had the NR tag in their last year and got a B&C ram. I'm helping out the NR tag holder this year and your scouting info could be really helpful.
