HELP, new to unit, anyone have info on places to go in Malheur for deer or elk? Oregon keeps me moving around units with the controled hunt rules.

I've never hunted the unit before. Cracks me up people wait until the last second to ask for advice. You have known about this tag for how long now?

I'm sure your familular with the problem men have asking for directions. I just thougt that for once I would give it a try. By the way Friday is the last second.

I've hunted that unit my whole life, there will be 1500 people in that unit this weekend (probably more like 2500 but 1500 will have tags, the other thousand will be driving people around, etc.) Fortunately it is a big unit. Find the water and you will find the deer this year, a really dry year. If you are willing to go anywhere, go up to the high country in the Summit prairie area or around Seneca. Good country and there is some water in Big creek and the Silvies river. I have a few specific places but my party will be hunting those (I don't have a tag but I will be one of the 1000 extra people driving around wishing they were hunting) so you don't get more than a general area :) Good luck!

I was over at Seneca for the last 4 days of bow season. Very dry and only a few bucks. That Parrish Cabin fire hit that area pretty good. Try the wilderness and stay nearby the water.

ryry, I think you are talking about the murderers creek unit, there is no wilderness that I can think of in the malheur river unit and the fire was in murderers creek I think, I could be wrong though.
