Just got back today from a scouting trip north of antelope lake. We saw 6 bucks 2 shooters , 3 weeks ago we saw 25 bucks on that trip same 2 shooters and one dandy that about gave me a heart attack. On that first trip we saw 15 of those buck in the first 30 minutes. I talked to my buddy who is scouting for archery and he has been up there every wweekend for 4 weeks. He has the same results as me seen alot of deer early and now its getting closer to archery opener the deer are not to be found. Last week he ran into some biologist that were running cats with hounds. He didn't get much info on what they were doing. But thinking this might have something to do with why the deer are not being seen? So was just wondering if anyone has heard of a cat problem in that area or has any wisdom as to what might be going on with the deer?

Have cat sighting routinely in Janesville. My theory why the deer would rather live amongst homes rather than migrate up to that area is the lions.

But this has been going on for years.

The Bucks usually get hard to find 1st/2nd week of September once they get hard horned.

I share the same sentiments as Troy on this one. Why the hell any deer wouldn't want to hang out near the homes is beyond me. Them woods is dangerous.
