I know there are a few of you that live in, or close to this zone. I drew the rifle tag this year. It's been about 10 years since I've hunted the zone, I'm curious as to the overall condition and population of the deer in the zone. did this years rain help out at all, I'll be scouting Sept 1st - 4th. Any information would be helpful. Thanks guys, and good luck on your hunts this year!

All of the xzones have been awsome for about 10 years now!I would honestly say that in 10 years from now I will be calling this the good old days.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-11-16 AT 03:15PM (MST)[p]I would say X3a is one of the best "bang for yer buck" zone in the state! There are other zones known for larger bucks...and zones known for more bucks. However the relitively low number of points needed to draw this zone, along with the caliber bucks it can produce (as big as anywhere!), makes this a very good choice. We used to concentrate on X3b, X5b and X2, but some in our group are switching over to X3a.

Good luck!

I had an archery tag about 10 years ago, and was amazed at the amount of deer we saw during that hunt, and very few other hunters. I'm not sure what caliber of buck to expect now.I would be happy with a solid 4x4.

Hi all! Long time viewer first time posting. X3-A will be great this year. We have had a very wet spring and a decent summer. The Muledeer horn growth is above average , and they are just in good shape as far as health. From what I have been seeing there are some really nice bucks showing up lately. You should have no problem finding bucks , and no problem with running in to other hunters. It's a big zone ! Good Luck!
