I have a spike tag that ends January 31. I have two friends with nonresident cow tags for the exact same areas and dates.
I've never set foot in this area of the state, I currently reside in Reno. I've had a lot of recommendations, primarily for 062 around Red Mountain.
According to NOAA.com there's 10-20 inches of snow on the ground up higher. It was 0 degrees Fahrenheit this morning. I imagine the snow has pushed a lot of elk down into the flats.
Any sort of recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We do have written permission to access the IL Ranch (Elko Land and Livestock Company).
I understand Taylor Canyon resort may be open. We could base out of there, and probably will at least the first night. We all like winter camping though, and will have a wall tent and wood burning stove. A recommendation for a place to camp would also be much appreciated.
We've got snowshoes and skis, we're more than willing to wear out some boot leather to fill the freezer.
