Cancer doesn't discriminate...don't take your good health for granted because it can be gone in a heartbeat. Please go back and read the last line. This time really understand what it says.

Wife got it done! With living close we went out early morning and late afternoon and always saw deer. Limited access due to private land but saw few hunters in the places went did go. Saturday morning we got out about 30 min past our plan and the spot we wanted to hunt already had to trucks parked at the access. We went up the road a few more miles and parked at a different spot I had never hunted. We walked to the top of a ridge which gave us good glassing access of multiple canyons and saw deer right off the bat. My wife spotted a good wide buck across the canyon by himself but was moving fast straight up hill. We watched him for about 30 min till he went over a ridge and decided to side hill around the canyon to a closer spot which would give us a good visual of the bowl the buck went into. It took about 45 min to get there and started glassing again. Saw plenty of does and two smaller bucks but never saw the one we were after. We had found 3 different groups of deer scattered in the bowl feeding and just kept watching when one group all stopped feeding and looked downhill. A buck came out of the timber and fed into the group of does occasionally pushing some around. After getting a good rest set up where she was comfortable and collecting all the range/dope info, she was ready when the shot presented itself. She kept asking how far and I said don't worry about it let the equipment work and focus on the shot. At 482yds he stopped broadside and she fired. The buck kicked like a mule and slowly moved downhill and into a stand of pines and manzanita. We watched him for about 15 min before he slowly walked out. I knew he was hit good just by his activity, head low, ears back, and tail twitching but no visible blood. She got set up again and waited for a follow up shot when he stopped. At 348 yds she connected again and he dropped in his tracks. After high fives and hugs we started the uphill climb to see her trophy. Not the big buck we saw but a very respectable second deer for her. It was a fun hunt and of course a beer at the Genoa bar was in order. Focus will be on elk for her next year!
