First time drawing in Nevada and actually super excited for this tag as I have done a fair amount of research. I was just wondering from anyone else that has unted it if they prefer to stay in the Mormon mtns or down in the virgin mtns ?

have traveled both Mtn. Ranges in these units hunting/guiding deer & sheep.Better numbers of deer in The Virgin Range.Warm Sept. temps make this hunt difficult ? Find springs ,deer will be near ... Good Luck

Both mountain ranges look pretty rugged from a distance. Sorry, I don't have any experience in either of them, but I know where a few springs/guzzlers are at. I'd be happy to pm coords to you.

I run the ONx maps system and can see all the guzzlers, my preference would be the Arizona border as to the hopes of a buck from the strip making the mistake of leaving there and coming to Nevada :)

I had this tag over twenty years ago when you could snag it in the leftover drawing. I had similar hopes as in, "...well it's close to AZ 13B so??" I spent a week in the Virgin Mtns and hardly found any deer. Went from the Virgin river to the highest peaks. Only ran into two other people that entire week and they were both of the opinion that there were no deer in the Virgin Mtns. While I can't state it as fact, it is my understanding that the presence of deer in the Virgin Mtns has increased somewhat since that time.

I went to the Mormon Mountains and immediately got into more deer and saw quite a few bighorns. Never saw a decent buck and headed home to enjoy a hearty bowl of tag soup.

Cruised to Morman Mtn. Wilderness today. First time being there. Did not see anything but we didnt go far in. About a mile and a half. Lots of fresh tracks though so we will be heading back.

If you're seeing lots of tracks there liklely big horn sheep. Way more sheep than deer in that country.

Yeah, I was wondering that myself. Hoping to find out next weekend. I had the little one so we couldnt hike too deep, but next week I plan to get to the springs to see if they have water. Maybe see something, whether it be sheep or deer.

I plan on scoping out the burn area as well, where is a bit higher in elevation.

Yes, rifle tag (November hunt). I will be headed out this weekend with the new spotting scope. Might goto virgin mountains and scope the spring instead, not sure yet.

very nice! shoot me a PM if you want me can exchange some info. Im all about letting you know what im seeing during my hunt etc as well
