So I have been trying to get into hunting big game since I moved to NV. The only other hunting I've ever done is pig hunting with dogs in Hawaii. I finally got a deer and elk combo tag for 101-109 from 10/17-10/30. I have a 300 win mag rifle with scope, a eberlestock team elk pack, tent, the basics, etc., but I was wondering mainly what clothing to take. I know NV can be crazy stupid with weather (having lived here for 7 years now). Any guidance on brands, camo patterns, anything really would be greatly appreciated. Also any advice on specific gear I might need would be helpful as well. I got the buck mule deer and a cow elk tag for 101-103. How difficult is the terrain out there in those zones? Are those zones really hard hunts? I will be doing some scouting beginning in early sept but any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

It is pretty rugged terrain in there, but lots of deer. How hard the hunt will be all depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I am more interested in meat in the freezer than horns on the wall, so I found it to be a really easy hunt. Just get off the road and do some hiking. Like many places in NV, the majority of hunters there won't shoot anything unless they can drag it whole back to their truck, so you can beat the crowds by hiking less than a mile. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend learning the gutless method of quartering. Plenty of videos on YouTube.
As previously mentioned, with the rifle hunt, you really won't need camo. Get a good pair of boots, though. It is steep.
