Just looking for advice on timing of hunt. Would those that have knowledge of this area give their advice on when to hunt. I have hunted Canada in the cold and that is not a problem. I think I personally lean toward late Nov. I have never hunted the early season and do not wish to take a velvet antlered deer.I know you hunt bachelor groups early and that sounds exciting but I believe the biggest bucks will be taken in the rut!! Any advice will be appreciated

I'm not a resident, but I'll take a stab at this since it has sat so long. I've been in that country seom and I"m giong back this fall. There are big deer in that area; that's known and documented. So much of what you do depends upon your personal preference. Since you are not interested in a velvet buck, you may want to go late. In my experience in a variety of locations, those big bucks go underground right after they shed their velvet. But if there's a late harvest and the canola and oats are still in the fields when you hunt, you could have first whack and shoot a brute in the early season. Weather could be a factor either way.

I'd just be happy to go. Either time could be great and you'll have a chance at a whopper there.

Good hunting.

Thanks for the reply ICM. I do believe I will be going around the 13th of Nov. Just before the full moon. It is always a pleasure to hunt in any of the provinces- such beautiful country.Your reply and advice is appreciated. Have a good hunting season Thanks!

Anytime after the 2nd week of November and you will be into the heat of the rut and have your best chance at killing a big buck.Sometimes if it is cold the 2nd week of November is good for rutting as the bucks have a first and second rut.We have had are best success the 3rd week of Nov.The thing is even the smartest bucks that lays low all fall cannot ignore the urge to rut, that is why you see so many big old brusiers in Nov that were no where to be found in Aug,Sept.

God Luck.
