European Plaques

I am doing a mule deer european mount. I am looking for some ideas on materials to make the plaque out of. What do you like? & What have you seen plaques made out of?
Any suggestions or pictures would be helpful.

a buddy up here sells them. He calls them euromounters. This is his website.

You can see the shape of the oak base I used and a small piece of aluminum tube to cover the screw attachment.
I kind of followed a minimalist philosophy, Its not about the wood, its about the mount.

That is pretty cool. I too like the minimalistic approach. Showing off the head/rack is better than the base. You might also want to see the Skull Hooker as it is streamline and also has adjustability which you wont get from a fixed base. Just a suggestion.
