Well I hate to jinx things, but had to share my new outdoors girlfriend I'm dating. Been doing the internet dating thing for 3 months now. Been through a few, but settled on this Friend Finder gem. She actually winked me for starters. Been on about 8 dates so far. Saturday I made one of her dreams come true by taking her on her first bowhunt. Seems her previous dates were city slickers. Drove down to our hunting area Friday night and camped out primitive, no complaints. Got up at 4 AM and rode our bikes 4+ miles to standsite. Hunted in the sweltering heat 3 hours, saw nothing. Got down and spent the next 5 hours scouting through the thickest, nastiest briars and weed thickets in 90 degree heat. She had to pick out about 500 burs. No complaints, just smiles. Located as few spots and trimmed branches another hour. Climbed a bunker & fell asleep in the sun for 2 hours. Got up and went wading in a creek for 1/2 hour. Climbed back up in the stand for another 1 1/2 hours of nothing. Biked back 4 miles. No complaints. She was thrilled I took her and wants to return when the weather cools.

On previous dates we hiked Starved Rock, all of it, biked for 4 1/2 hours (1st date), shot a 3D tournament at Chicago Bowhunters (she wanted me to shoot a 2nd round), and shot my muzzleloader, loaded it herself. She is also now shopping for her first bow.

I think it would be impossible to trade up on this one.
 
As an added bonus, I scored my earliest decent buck ever this year, taking him from the tree shown in the picture on the morning of October 3rd. Illinois public land. Shaping up to be a good year.

If she went though all that with you, and was still smiling and wants to go back again, you found a keeper. We already can see that she is pretty, so if she can cook, you better grab her and hang on tight and not let her get away.
P.S. work your butt off and make sure she gets her deer, 4 legged type, and you have your lifelong hunting companion.

Ya, I know she is a keeper for sure even now, after 2 months. My mind has already been made up. I figure it's not impossible to find someone else like this, but the odds??? Haha. Don't even want to think about it. She is very conservative, so am I. I am concentrating all my efforts to treat her perfect and do things right. We are both still dating around some but are concentrating on each other for sure. Thank god looks aren't eveything to her because she can do a lot better than me. :)

I am not exagerating about that day. That is what really happened. I told my sisters and they are convinced I forced her to go with me, but no it was her idea.

She is also very smart, positive attitude, sense of humor, great personality, great career job. No brainer for me.

Congrats on all of your finds. Looks like you are having a great year. I went to Starved Rock 15 years ago. What a cool place to take a date. Probably the coolest place in Illinois. Now if she likes Giradono's spinach pizza you better marry her.
 
Zim congrats on both counts. looks like you may have found a keeper but make sure you keep it fun for her. I've had my hunting buddy for 18 years now but I did have to change a few things in my hunting process! Wouldn't change it for the world! Regards, CA

I remember when my wife and I were dating. We still lived in Idaho at the time. We went fishing and shooting alot. I actually made her shoot a ground squirrel before I decided to propose. She did and seemed OK with it. We got married and the first year we went mule deer hunting together. Well, we were crossing a creek, by hopping across rocks. Everyone else was across fine and then she jumped on the first rock and fell over backwards into the creek. She still remembers and tells me time to time how I grabbed her (my) rifle out of the water before I picked her up. If that was all that happened, she may still like hunting more than she does, she wanted to go back to the truck, but I insisted we(she)and my brother push a pocket where I had seen a huge buck the year before, while I covered the top of it. Here she was dripping wet, having to walk through a brushy pocket getting scraped up, and her clothes full of stickers. I also still hear about this from time to time.

I know I screwed up. Looking back, I probably should have let her dry out for 10-15 minutes before pushing the pocket. Seriously though, I feel bad about it now and somewhat regretful because she hasn't had the same enthusiasm about hunting since. I'm glad she still lets me and the boys go as often as we do.

Learn from my mistake and hopefully she will be a lifelong hunter.

I am extremely respectful of her wishes and would never even nudge her to do any of these activities. She does it on her own. In fact, one of the first things she liked about me was when I told her "Don't do something just to please me, do it only if you want to". This scored major points with her. And she does exactly that. At one point during our scouting trip she remained in a clearing when I told her I was double checking a stand site. I said no problem. She layed out a blanket and rested. It's these little thing we communicate so well with. We've not argued once in 2 months. Like clones. Really going great.

We are also both fitness fanatics.......biking & hiking bigtime. I lift weights and other gym stuff she does not, but that's fine because people need their private time too. We both only eat healthy foods as well. No fast foods. She is 42 and has the body of a 20 year old. Of course, I am a stud with no body fat. Everyone knows that. :) She calls me her "big buck".
 
My wife is my hunting buddy also! You can camp with your guy buddy all you want, but I'm waking up with a smile on my face...

Congrats. I find mine about 11 years ago. She had just finished hiking The Colorado Trail end to end. I took her black powder hunting that year, The previous 7 black powder hunts on her own she had not scored. When I took her she shot a nice 4 point bull.

The only reason I am continuing to date 6 others is at RB's request! You see she is mature, and is confident in herself. She wants me to be sure about my choice. Some people just don't understand that. I do. I already told her my choice was made. It is in fact a no brainer. Still she requests I continue for a while. These are only casual dates obviously, and she trusts me.

As to the biking, I am afraid by our ages (42 & 48) 95% of people are well on their way to being couch potatos. RB & I are not! We hike & bike together regularly. At 48 I still play basketball at my gym and even the 20 year olds don't put up much competition for me (Used to playing in the hood, now I am in suburbia). As to keeping up with RB?! Haha! I'm telling you she is a pedaling machine in top physical shape. Bikes the full shoreline of Chicago regularly. I belong to the largest gym (Lifetime Fitness) in Chicago and have basically seen no women her age in the shape she is in. In fact VERY few men by that age. During our bike to our hunting area Saturday we blew past 6 other male hunters like they were standing still. They were toting the usual potbellies. The fact is she is just a top athlete and could easily outbike anyone on this site or anywhere else on average. Just a fact.

One other activity she participated in China was ballroom dancing. Just to indicate her abilities, her ex-husband and her were the #1 rated couple in the northern most province of China. Very famous for it there. That province has a population of many million.

I don't have pics of any of the other 6 and some here think one picture is too many to post. However, I have to say all 6 are hot or I would not be dating them. The dating websites don't allow me to cut/paste the profile images.

A 7th dumped me after I e-mailed her a photo of my October 3rd pope & young buck! She knew I was a fitness fanatic like her and she looked past her anti-hunting beliefs. When I e-mailed her the image and "dedicated" the buck to her, she left a message on my cell phone......in tears.....for the buck! Hahaha! I was thinking I hope my door didn't hit her in the behind on her way out! Haha. She was hot, but no loss, I have 6 others. Got to be an outdoors woman to make my cut.

It's not about luck. I take care of myself, and took the time to write a detailed profile for my dating websites. I requested only chicks who took care of themselves need reply. I can make this request because I don't have a beer gut. Most chicks don't qualify because they let themselves go after 40. Some do not. Those are the ones I date. RB is not only in top shape, she is all class, whether in or out of the treestand.

Forgot to mention, she was always in the top 3 bikers for her college. Did many week long 500+ mile races. She's awesome!

It's just there are 9 million people in the Chicago suburbs so it's just a numbers game. If I lived in Des Moines it would be a different story, haha.

One nice thing about these paid dating sites/burbs is all these gals are educated and make big money. All 6. I bet 4-5 of them make more than me. ALL offer to pay for dinner EVERY time we go out. I do not let them, but they always offer.

As to chicks not giving a sh!t about a guy being in shape. Maybe the fat ones, but I don't target market for those. I guarantee you many do care. How do I know? Because it's the first thing they tell me. Besides, I don't have much for looks so I depend on my bod, haha. :)

Ya, I am lean for sure. I work out year round. 6'2", 175#. Also alternate lifting weights with cardio. Do not eat any junk food. Last blood donation stats.....heart rate 50 bpm, bp 92/60, cholesterol 140. Doc didn't want to take blood last time do to my low numbers. I assured him I was just super fit. He said then I must have the body of a pro athlete. That is what those numbers say. If you think there are some gals who do not know what those numbers mean, I assure you there are.

The only reason I went on to give so many details is because the crap started flying, as always on here. The other sites I post on like Bowsite, people are very supportive and complimentary. But this place is full of negative crappola, like you.

I've helped other guys meet their own outdoors gal types via advice about my methods. Worked for two. Excuse me for trying to help. There are plenty of other topics on here to visit. If you don't like it, get the hell out.

I answered this with a post above. I'm not going to say anything further because that's disrespectful of the women. I am a christian and am dating as such. Hard for some people to understand. RB and I both happen to be Baptist and we now attend the same church, along with my 2 sons.

Actually, I telephoned and talked with Zim in the past. We talked over an hour. He is really just a down to earth good guy, who does an excellent job representing hunters. As I recall he had just got done finishing working on his local bowhunters archery range all weekend and was the only one to show up for the work detail, so he did it alone until it was finished! That did impress me greatly. He is just one of those guys who is not afraid to be open about him self. From what I have seen he is a pretty good hunter too! Hey Zim, you can show up in my camp whenever you feel like it! However, just want you to know, you can not beat me one on one at basketball, and I am older than you!!

It's true. For 19 years I played at Omni 41 Gym in NW Indiana where 90% of the guys came from Gary & East Chicago to play. Many extremely athletic & out of my league. Four specifically played at some point for NBA teams. Many played for different colleges. I had to compete or leave. Very high level. This new gym in the Chicago burbs is a joke compared to that. Like playing high school kids. No I can't jump too high, but high enough to block 3 shots tonight. I go all out in athletics and hunting. Full effort.

So what if I didn't get a bison, I didn't wound any, and I can shoot one any time I want at a ranch. I make up for it on other hunts, like last year with my 350 1/8" archery bull I busted my rump for, and my 173" mulie where I hiked 3 miles uphill in 12" snow to get to. 2 fer 2. These would have still been great hunts in great places had I not scored. All evens out.

Took my son's PSE Bandit youth bow to RB's apartment last night and it fits her perfect! We are going to Cabela's on Sunday to buy accessories. She said she wants to bowhunt this year, and where we bike, she has a legit chance at a monter buck.

RB is just like me. Tonight she stayed at her work until 7 PM. Saturday is our day off. What does she have planned? A 24 mile hike around Lake Geneva. Sunup to sundown. Yikes. We both work hard and play hard.

Zim, you're probably gone after all the crap sent your way but I support you and may deflect some. Simular situation here. Was going through a divorce after 25 years and live in a small town. Didn't want people in my business cuz almost everyone knows me. I used the internet to meet someone outside my area. Met a great gal that lived 75 miles away. Basically saw each other 3 days a week for a year except for a couple of vacations, Mexico together and me to Colorado.

She moved in last July. I just got back from 5 days in Nevada, chukar hunting. Only thing she wanted was to learn to handle a handgun. I live at the end of the road with no other houses within sight or sound. With me and both dogs gone, she felt vulnerable. After today, I don't want her shooting at me with a 9mm inside 20 yards. learned everything, even how to clear a jam. Couple more sessions and she'll be as proficient as me.

Just happens she likes to hike, bike and backpack. Hasn't shown desire to hunt but is willing to take hunters safety with her son. Maybe it's because they aren't American (she's German) or I learned my first rodeo but I get treated soooooo well.

And @ 47-48, most of the competition is fat, bald or rude.

Heehee. Hell if I ran every time people people biatched on here all the fun would be gone! :) Congrats on finding your outdoors gal! She sounds like a keeper as well. Keep her entertained.

I actually am a real humble guy. Didn't mean to veer off the topic, it's just on this fitness issue I am real disgusted how people take care of the one body god gave them. American obesity stats, including diabetes & heart disease are simply out of control in case nobody has noticed. Can't drive 1 block around here without passing a fast food place, or one under construction. It's rediculous. It seems all people like to do is make jokes about it. I just don't think it's funny. I get hammered most by the obese ones who think I am prejudice or something against their type, but I'm just trying to wake them up to do something about it. It's rediculous when I go in to donate blood and even the doctor thinks there's something wrong with me because I'm "too healthy". That is exactly what happened to me 2 months ago. It's like "throw in the towel, fat is normal".

I just thank god I found someboby with the same mindset (RB) who also loves the outdoors. That combination is rare. Yesterday RB and I hiked the 26+ mile perimeter of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. We jogged the 25th mile. All her idea.

I enjoy my hunting so much better by my mobility, and intend to keep it as long as I can.
 
Have you ever noticed when your on the interstate comeing up to an exit all the state signs for the exit are advertiseing fast junk food. Im right there with ya on staying fit and not eating all that junk. Good luck with your girlfriend, the day seems to go better when you have a girl with ya that your crazy about.
 
Update: Just keeps getting better. RB has practiced with her first bow twice daily for the last 2 weeks. She now hits her 6" target bulllseye every shot with broadheads from 20 yards. She has been hunting with me 5 times. Going again prime rut this weeekend. She is a trooper.

This week we were moving deerstands and she biked out an API stand with 3 climbing stix, plus a full bike pack......4 miles. She totally loves bowhunting. I think I've created a monster. She wants to outdo my buck this year.

Name of fun is a good thing, however, when you are attacking wifes, children, and girlfriends of members, that is just a very rude thing to do. I really do not care what people say to me, but I think it is a different ball game when you go after the above mentioned! Just tells me those who do, are cowards behind computers with major self esteem problems! If that is what you need to do to get the ego flowing, then I suggest Therapy.com
 
It is a way worse offense, to train your gal to pack in your tree stand, and equipment, on a unicycle. If thats how you want it done at least hire it out and pay the union guys to do it.

this under-the-table 40 cents a day crap is killing the union guys, who depend on jobs like this to feed their families!!!!
